• Reykjavik ~ is the capitol of Iceland. It's a city with just over 100.000 people and is located in Southwest Iceland by Faxafloi, Iceland's biggest bay. The story of Reykjavik goes as far back as to the first settler Ingolfur Arnarson who came to Iceland in 874 and builds himself a farm in Reykjavik. The name means "an inlet with smoke" or "Smoky Bay" and that may be one of the reasons he settled here. He saw steam coming from the ground and found natural hot springs that must have been very useful in those days. Nothing much is going on in Reykjavik until the 16th century when Reykjavik had become a trading place and by the time it was established as an independent town in 1876 it had some 170 inhabitants. By 1900 the numbers were almost 6.000 and 55.000 around 1950. It is a modern city where all the houses are heated by hot water. The staircases of apartment blocks are heated and even the parking lots and sidewalks in front of many homes and businesses have hot water flowing through to melt the snow during winter. Also very noticeable for foreign visitors are the colourful roofs and houses of the city. It is a cosmopolitan city with very active nightlife and many museums and art galleries. Reykjavik will be one of Europe's culture cities in the year 2000.

• Kulusuk ~ is the largest of the six villages (350 inhabitants) in Amassable municipality. In the busy summer months there are several arrivals and departures daily and the village buzzes with life. Although several thousand tourists visit Kulusuk every year, the village is still remarkably untouched by foreign influence. As in the other villages in the district, this is where one comes closest to the original Greenland culture. Fishing and service trades are gaining ground but catching seal, whale and polar bear remains an important source of income for the vast majority of families. Kulusuk is home to some of the most skilled craftspeople in Greenland, and their tupilaks, carved figures symbolising spirits, are of extremely high quality. A good half of the population of Ammassalik municipality lives in the villages.
• Upon arrival, only eight minutes flying time from Kulusuk by helicopter to Tasiilaq.
• Tasiilaq ~ is situated on a fjord which is protected from the open sea by a narrow mouth, and the first sight that welcomes arriving guests looking out of the helicopter window is of the many brightly-colored houses built along the mountainsides. Tasiilaq, also known as former name of Ammassalik and it is rightfully considered as one of the most beautiful towns in Greenland. A small river flowing through the Valley of Flowers behind the town divides the town in two.

It is one of the more picturesque buildings in downtown Reykjavik. And the statue of nationalist Jon Sigurdsson, the leader of the movement fighting for independence from Denmark, stands on Austurvollur opposite the Parliament House. June the 17th, his birthday, was chosen as Independence Day when Iceland became independent in 1944. City tour will end at Lake Tjornin. Where ducks and geese stay there all winter and are generously fed by caring citizens that in return get to use the often frozen lake for skating or just messing around on the ice.

DAY 06 (24 JUL, FRI) REYKJAVIK / SOUTH
SHORE (B / L / D)
• Scandinavian Buffet breakfast at hotel.
• A visit to The South of Iceland, it is unique and that part of the country which by far the greatest numbers of foreign visitors come to. There everything that makes Iceland interesting to visit can be found the year around. Here history follows you at every footstep, both ancient and recent. There is creative art, culture and flourishing trade and endless possibilities to enjoy the outdoor life in all seasons. Above all there is the awesome and rugged nature from the mountains to the sea.
• Hverageroi ~ is set in a large geothermal area and has a relatively short history, being only a few decades old. Greenhouse cultivation is the primary industry, with the main emphasis on vegetables but to an increasing extent on flowers as well. Actual utilization of geothermal heat in this country started only around 70 years ago but has now become very well established and today this source of energy is among Iceland's most important natural resource.
Hverageroi has developed along with technical progress and during the town's short history; geothermal energy has been harnessed by the inhabitants for various proposes. One of the largest swimming pools in the country was built here just before World War II. It is heated with natural hot water, as is the case with almost all swimming pools in Iceland today.
• Skogafoss ~ is situated in the south of Iceland at the cliffs of the former coastline. After the coastline had receded into the sea (it is now at a distance of about 5 km from Skogar), the cliffs stayed behind parallel to the coast over hundreds of kilometers, creating together with some mountains a clear border between the Lowlands and the Highlands of Iceland. The Skogafoss is one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls of the country with a width of 25 meters and a drop of 60 meters. Due to the amount of spray the waterfall consistently produces, a single or double rainbow is normally visible on sunny days. According to legend, the first Viking settler in the area, prasi porolfsson, buried a treasure in a cave behind the waterfall. A local boy found the chest years later, but was only able to grasp the ring on the side of the chest before it disappeared again.
• Seljalandsfoss ~ is one of the most famous waterfalls of Iceland. It is very picturesque and therefore its photo can be found in many books and calendars. It was a waypoint during the first leg of The Amazing Race 6.
Seljalandsfoss is situated in between Selfoss and Skogafoss at the road crossing of Route 1 (the Ring Road) with the track going into porsmork.
This waterfall of the river Seljalandsá drops 60 meters over the cliffs of the former coastline. It is possible to go behind the waterfall.
• Vik ~ the southernmost village of Iceland. We visit the breathtaking black beach at Reynishverfi or the promontory Dyrholaey, a nature reserve and home to thousands of seabirds. It is along with several rock stacks and around the glacier area.
Accommodation: Edda Plus Hotel or similar

DAY 07 (25 JUL, SAT) SOUTH SHORE /
GOLDEN CIRCLE TOUR / REYKJAVIK (B / L / D)
• Today, a full day tour of Golden Circle Tour ~ this popular excursion offers some of the best-known natural phenomena of Iceland.
• Myrdalsjokull Glacier Adventure we drive along the coastal plains of South Iceland to the District of Eyjafjoll Mountains. There is spectacular scenery along the way, many beautiful waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss to name two and the Glacier Eyjafjallajokull on top of the Eyjafjoll Mountains. Then ascend to an altitude of nearly 800 meters to the edge of the glacier. On the way back we off road to take a look at the black beaches of South Iceland The Myrdalsjokull ~ is the fourth largest glacier with an area of about 590 km? It rests on a very volcanically active mountain massif, which erupted very powerfully in 1918. Its volcano is called Katla and its caldera is estimated to have a diameter of about 10km.
Optional tour on Snowmobile tours is available at Myrdalsjokul glacier
• Gullfoss ~ is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. As one first approaches the falls, the crevice is obscured from view, so that it appears that a mighty river simply vanishes into the earth. During the first half of the 20th century and some years into the late 20th century, there was much speculation about utilizing Gullfoss to create electricity. During this period, the waterfall was rented indirectly by its owners, Tomas Tomasson and Halldor Halldorsson, to foreign investors; however, the investors' attempts were unsuccessful, partly due to lack of money. The waterfall was later sold to the state of Iceland. Even after it was sold, there were plans to utilize Hvita, which would have changed the waterfall forever. This was not done, and later the waterfall was conserved.
• Geysers ~ are found in active volcanic areas or land that is prone to earthquakes. Thermal or hot springs are also a feature, as are boiling mud pools, often appreciated for their medicinal qualities. The Great Geyser of Iceland, which first erupted in the 14th century, which the world's geysers take their name. It used to erupt every 60 minutes until the early 1900s when it became dormant. Earthquakes in June 2000 subsequently reawakened the giant and it now erupts approximately every 8 to 10 hours. The second most famous geyser in Iceland is Strokkur, which erupts every 8 minutes throwing a column of water and steam to a height of 20 meters or so. There are also several other smaller ones.

早餐后, 开始冰岛南方200公哩外的 “冰” 游览…..这包含;
(Kirkjubaejarklaustur).
1 - 喷发取决于温度: 当泉洞内某一深度的水温高于沸点时, 泉水就向外喷射;
